Cabin in the Sky: De La Soul’s New Album Lands

De La Soul returns with Cabin in the Sky, their first studio album in nearly a decade and a project that reflects both evolution and continuity. Out now via Mass Appeal as part of the Legend Has It… series, the album brings new music from one of hip-hop’s most influential groups while honoring the legacy of Dave - Trugoy the Dove.

Cabin in the Sky blends newly unearthed vocals, ideas, and production from Trugoy with the group’s current creative direction, creating a record that feels grounded in history but shaped for the present. Across 20 tracks, the project carries the warmth, playfulness, and perspective that have defined De La Soul for more than three decades.

The album features contributions from across the hip-hop landscape, with appearances from Nas, Q-Tip, Black Thought, Common, Killer Mike, Slick Rick, and more, each adding dimension without overshadowing the group’s core energy. The production ranges from bright, soulful arrangements to more introspective moments, moving with ease between celebration and reflection.

Songs like “Yuhdontstop” and “Day in the Sun (Gettin’ Wit U)” highlight the spirit running through the album: a sense of light, gratitude, and resilience. Other tracks tap back into the adventurous, sample-driven approach that helped define De La Soul’s earliest chapters, reconnecting the group’s past with their forward motion.

Cabin in the Sky is a reminder of De La Soul’s lasting influence, their creative openness, and the imprint they’ve left on the culture.

The album is available now on all major streaming platforms.
